Openings On the Kansas AgriTourism Advisory Council

The Advisory Council was created in 2004. Our mandate is straight forward: to advance the growth of agritourism in Kansas. The Advisory Council establishes a partnership between agricultural groups, tourism associations, community groups and businesses. Each of these groups will benefit from agritourism, so each will benefit from this partnership. We know these partnerships will be reinforced during our meetings and we have no doubt, will become alliances that are sustained throughout the years as agritourism flourishes.

What specifically are we going to ask of you?

First, we need fresh ideas and guidance about agritourism; your views regarding the advancement of agritourism within our State should be diverse and not limited to one specific area.

Secondly, we are going to ask for your assistance as we review the possibilities of holding additional Agritourism Conferences or Educational Sessions.

We’re going to ask for your help in promoting farms and ranches that are now engaged in agritourism or those you think would be good prospects to become agritourism operations.

Most importantly, we need your help to communicate this group's ongoing efforts to promote agritourism in Kansas.

Travel to quarterly meetings, usually held in Topeka or Manhattan, Kansas is also required.

At this time, the Agritourism Advisory Council wants to add individual producers to our group. The Council tries to meet quarterly and participation is important as we set policy for the State's agritourism agenda. Interested persons need to presently be involved as a producer, hunting/fishing operation, bed & breakfast operator, part of a winery venue, nature/wildlife or other agritourism/tourism entity within the State of Kansas. Interested individuals also need to be registered with the state agritourism registration.

A one page resume focusing on your present position relating to agriculture, agritourism or tourism; background and abilities that you possess, and a letter of interest showing why you are interested in a position with the Agritourism Advisory Council.

This resume and letter can be sent before May 25, 2007 to:
